PVC is roughly half the weight of bitumen. Palram publishes only the density of Palruf, not a weight per square metre, so these figures are approximate. A 1.1mm Palruf sheet works out at about 1.7kg per square metre once corrugated, against about 2.8kg for our Palruf BT bitumen sheet. Suntuf polycarbonate is lighter still, at about 1kg. One person can carry any of them.
It can be, in a ventilated space, but it is made for open-sided roofing. Palruf PVC is UV and weather resistant and easy to cut, so it works as a light screen or workshop divider. The manufacturer does not recommend PVC for enclosed structures such as greenhouses. For a solid indoor partition, flat polycarbonate is the better choice.
Yes, PVC is the most chemical resistant of the plastic corrugated sheets. The manufacturer rates Palruf as having excellent chemical resistance, ahead of its polycarbonate sheets, and it is UV and weather resistant. That makes it a sensible choice over animal pens, compost areas or where fumes are present, provided the structure is open-sided. Fix with EPDM-washered screws, never nails.
Yes, a patio cover is exactly the kind of open-sided, ventilated structure PVC suits. Palruf clear passes 90% of daylight, so the patio stays bright. Keep the pitch at 10 degrees where possible and never below about 7 degrees, lap sheets by one corrugation and fix through the crown with screws and spacers. If hail is a concern, Suntuf Beehive polycarbonate is the tougher option and was developed specifically for this purpose.
Through pigment and UV stabiliser built into the sheet, not a coating. Clear Palruf is UV-stabilised, so nothing can peel or flake. Palram says the sheet keeps its appearance and physical properties under UV, humidity, rain and snow. Keep it clear of chimney soot. Warranty terms are confirmed on your order.
