The top edge takes solid aluminium tape and the bottom edge takes perforated anti-dust breather tape. The solid tape seals the top flutes completely against rain and dust. The perforated tape at the bottom keeps dust and insects out but lets condensation and moisture escape down the slope. They are not interchangeable, so buy both for a sheet cut at both ends.
Yes, that is exactly what it is for. Condensation forms inside multiwall flutes and runs down to the bottom edge. The perforations in the anti-dust tape let that moisture out while keeping dust and insects from getting in. Fit it on the bottom edge only, with a sheet closure over it so the drainage path stays clear.
Pre-taped is the default. Our cut-to-size multiwall sheets arrive with solid aluminium tape on the top edge and perforated anti-dust tape on the bottom, unless you ask for them untaped when you order. If you plan to trim a sheet on site, order it untaped and tape the cut edges yourself. Either way, fit a sheet end closure over the tape.
Cut only the bottom end and you need only the perforated anti-dust breather tape, as the top edge keeps its existing seal. Cut both ends and you need both tapes: solid aluminium for the top edge and perforated for the bottom. The two are not interchangeable. Whichever you fit, push a PVC sheet closure over the new tape before the roof goes up.
Cut the tape 50mm wider than the sheet, so there is a 25mm overhang at each side. Peel back the protective film at the edge, clean it, and stick the tape to the top surface along the edge. Fold it down over the open flutes, press firmly, then fold the 25mm overhangs round onto the sides. Fit the sheet closure over it straight away.
