Grey Canopies

Is grey one of the standard powder-coated finishes, or would it count as a custom RAL request?

Grey is a standard finish, not a custom request. The Evolution Bespoke Canopy System comes in white, brown and anthracite grey as standard, all powder-coated aluminium, so grey carries the normal 2 to 4 week delivery time. If you want a different shade of grey, other RAL colours are available on request; contact us first to check the lead time.

Does a grey frame show dirt or watermarking more or less than a lighter canopy colour?

Less. A grey frame hides everyday dirt, watermarks and green algae for longer than a white one, so it looks tidy for longer between cleans. It is not self-cleaning, though. Wipe the frame with warm soapy water once or twice a year, and clear leaves from the eaves beam gutter so it drains freely through the posts.

Is grey typically chosen to blend into a stone, brick or render property exterior?

Anthracite grey sits well against grey render, slate, stone and modern brick, and it matches the anthracite windows and doors on many newer homes. On warm red brick or cream render it stands out rather than blends, which some people prefer. Compare the shade against your wall in daylight before you decide; other RAL greys are available on request.

How does a grey frame pair visually against a clear versus an opal roof panel?

Grey works with either, so choose the roof sheet for light and shade rather than looks. Clear 16mm multiwall lets the most light through and gives a crisp, modern look with a dark frame, though dirt on the roof shows from below. Opal softens the light, hides roof marks and gives a calmer finish underneath.

Would a grey canopy need repainting sooner in a coastal or high-rainfall location?

No. The powder coating on the aluminium frame is the same whichever colour you choose, and it does not need repainting in coastal or wet areas. Aluminium does not rust either. Near the sea, rinse salt spray off the frame with fresh water a few times a year, and keep the eaves beam gutter clear so heavy rain drains through the posts.
