White Canopies

Is white one of the standard powder-coated finishes, or would it count as a custom RAL request?

White is a standard finish, not a custom request. The Evolution Bespoke Canopy System comes in white, brown and anthracite grey as standard, all powder-coated aluminium, so a white frame carries the normal 2 to 4 week delivery time. Other RAL colours, including off-whites and creams, are available on request; contact us for the lead time before you order.

Does a white frame show dirt or watermarking more than a darker canopy colour?

Yes. White shows green algae, watermarks and traffic dirt sooner than brown or grey, particularly on the underside of the eaves beam and around the posts. They sit on the surface rather than in the finish and wipe off with warm soapy water. Clean once or twice a year with a soft cloth, never an abrasive pad, to protect the powder coating.

Is white commonly chosen to match existing UPVC windows, fascias or rendered walls?

Yes. White is the usual choice where the house has white uPVC windows, doors and fascias, or a white or cream rendered wall. Whites vary between makers, so compare by RAL number: the standard white frame is RAL 9010, which you can check against your window supplier's colour chart. We send free samples of sheet materials only, not powder-coated frame parts.

How does a white frame pair visually against an opal versus a clear roof panel?

White with an opal roof is the closest match to uPVC: frame and milky white sheet read as one colour, and opal spreads light evenly with less glare. White with a clear roof gives the brightest space and shows more sky, but the white frame stands out sharply against it. Opal also hides dirt on the roof better from below.

Does a lighter frame colour like white help keep the structure cooler in direct sun?

Only a little. A white frame stays cooler to the touch than a dark one, but the frame is a small part of the canopy and it does not set the temperature underneath. The 16mm roof sheet does that. A clear roof lets most sun through whatever the frame colour, so choose opal or bronze for a cooler, shadier space beneath.
