Corrugated Accessories

Which accessories are needed to seal the ridge line of a corrugated roof?

A ridge cap matched to your sheet profile, plus foam eaves fillers beneath it. We stock the Palruf 3 inch PVC ridge cap for PVC sheets and the Suntuf IRN ridge cap for polycarbonate. Each covers the apex where two slopes meet and sheds water down each slope. Foam fillers close the corrugation gaps under the cap. Bitumen roofs use their own colour-matched ridge caps.

Are wall flashings required where a corrugated roof meets a vertical surface?

Yes, whenever the top or side of the roof runs into a wall. Without a flashing, rain running down the wall goes behind the sheet. A wall flashing sits over the sheet ends, turns up the wall and seals against it. We stock the Palruf 3 inch wall flashing, the Suntuf Beehive and IRN wall flashings and a bitumen wall flashing.

What's the purpose of eaves fillers on a corrugated roofing installation?

Eaves fillers close the gaps under each corrugation at the eaves and under the ridge cap. Without them, draughts, rain and pests get in beneath the sheet. They are foam strips shaped to the profile, so choose the 3 inch or 6 inch Palruf filler for PVC, the Suntuf filler for polycarbonate, or the black bitumen filler. They matter most on enclosed buildings.

Do the fixing screws for corrugated sheets need a spacer to allow for movement?

The movement allowance comes from the hole, not the spacer. Drill each fixing hole oversize so the sheet can move. The spacer is a small sleeve under the screw head on the crown, so the screw cannot crush the corrugation and the washer seats flat. Never use nails on PVC or polycarbonate.

Are corrugated accessories interchangeable between the different sheet materials?

Only within the same profile, and never between bitumen and plastic sheets. Bitumen roofs use their own gable angles, ridge caps, fixing pins and fillers. Palruf 3 inch is the old asbestos shaped profile and Suntuf Iron is the old iron profile sheeting. Whilst they are both 76mm profiles, you should always but buy the item listed for your sheet. Suntuf Beehive uses its own wall flashing.
