Clear acrylic sheets are UV stable which means it can withstand prolonged sunlight exposure and various weather conditions. This ensures that the material retains its clarity and strength, making it a reliable choice for both indoor and outdoor applications.
In comparison to glass, Acrylic has a lightweight design with robust impact resistance. This ensures easy handling and installation, while providing a sturdy choice for your projects.
The material is very easy to clean and maintain with minimal effort. Simply use warm soapy water and a soft, scratch free cloth helps to freshen the material up, making them an ideal choice for a multitude of applications.

Polycarbonate is far tougher. Acrylic is about five times stronger than glass, which is good, but solid polycarbonate is around 200 times stronger and is described as virtually unbreakable. Acrylic can crack or shatter under a hard knock, while polycarbonate bends and absorbs it. If the sheet might be hit by a ball, a tool or a person, choose polycarbonate.
Yes, acrylic is the easier material to work. It laser cuts cleanly, polishes to a glass-like edge, and bends or moulds with heat, which is why signmakers and display builders prefer it. It is also slightly clearer, passing about 92% of light against about 90% for polycarbonate. We supply acrylic cut to size only; we do not offer bending, polishing or other fabrication.
Acrylic has the poorer fire rating. It burns readily, much like hardwood, and carries a Class 3 or Class 4 surface spread of flame rating. Polycarbonate is Class 1 and self-extinguishing, so it does not keep burning once the flame is removed. Where fire performance matters, such as a roof, a workplace partition or anywhere near a heat source, choose polycarbonate.
Usually not, though it has its place. Acrylic is naturally UV stable, so it will not yellow outdoors, and it is slightly clearer. But it is far less impact resistant and has a poorer fire rating, so for a roof, canopy, shed window or anywhere hail or a stray ball could strike, polycarbonate is the safer choice. Acrylic suits displays, signs and indoor screens.
